Custom Fields allow you to store, track and display additional information for your people in LaborChart. You can use Custom Fields to create any additional field you would like to for a Person. However, for fields that may need an expiration date such as certifications, we recommend using Tags instead of Custom Fields.
Common cases of Custom Fields for people include, but are not limited to:
- Union information
- School information
- T-Shirt or glove size
- Truck or tablet number
- Willing to travel
Creating a Custom Field
All Custom Fields can optionally be displayed on the People Page and Project Page. You can use the column icon to add any Custom Fields to your list view.

To add a Custom Field to a person, it must first be created within the Settings Page. First, proceed to the Settings Page, and select the Custom Field tab located on the left side of the page. Select the New button located towards the upper right corner.
Title the field and select the type of field that you'd like to add. You can select from a list of any of the following field types.
- Drop down
- Multi-select drop down
- Paragraph text
Decide if this Custom Field will be available for People, Projects or both. Select Save to save your field information.
Selecting Integration Editable Only will disable the ability to edit the Custom Field within LaborChart. The field will only be available for editing within your ERP.
Adding a Custom Field to a Person
Once the Custom Field has been created, you can now add it to your people. Here's how:
- Proceed to the People Page, search for the desired person and select their name
- Select the Edit button in the upper right corner of their info section
- Scroll down until you see the Custom Field, enter the information, then select Save
- The Custom Field will now be displayed in their info section
